Starting with the grand reception where President Trump received the Royal Purple/Lavendar Carpet Welcome upon landing! Followed by a golden sword escort with the Royal Arabian Horse Guard!
The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally greeted President Trump, as he stepped off Air Force One and onto the luxurious purple carpet lining the steps— a new element of Saudi ceremonial tradition. And since everyone is talking about the “Purple Carpet” and what that means…. here are the facts behind the new color. Saudi Arabia adopted lavender-colored carpets for official state receptions and high-profile visits in 2021, to reflect the hues of the Kingdom’s deserts in spring, when lavender flowers and native plants like Desert Germander and basil paint the landscape in soft purples.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the purple and lavender hued carpets symbolize a “state of renewal, growth, and renaissance” in line with the country’s Vision 2030 agenda. The Gulf News reported the initiative, led by the Ministry of Culture and the Royal Protocol, is one of many efforts aimed at promoting national identity and celebrating cultural elements unique to the Kingdom.

President Trump got the royal treatment on his first stop in Saudi Arabia, as white Arabian horses flanked his motorcade. Dozens of Saudis rode on horseback carrying US and Saudi flags as Trump’s motorcade peeled into the Royal Court, where he got a warm welcome before going to a lunch in the palace adorned with chandeliers and marble floors. The president was also accompanied by six Saudi F-15s on his way into the airport on Air Force One, and received a 21-gun salute on arrival.
President Trump was met with great esteem and a high level of pomp respect equal to, if not surpassing his first trip to the Kingdom in his first term in 2017.
