  1. I read this article night before last before going to bed. Yesterday morning I had a few minutes before time to leave for work and decided to read my Bible. I had no particular scripture or thought on my mind. So I just opened my Bible and read exactly where I opened it at.
Hebrews chapter 5 is where I opened it to. It is a short chapter but look at the last 2 verses.
Pretty awesome. That’s the way God works.

    Hebrews 5:13-14
    King James Version

13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

You asked ‘Where has the discernment gone?’
The reason there is not much discernment today is because most Christians are still on the milk and not the strong meat. Nor do they want to be. Why is that? It is because the strong meat is to the point and goes directly against the flesh.
I have wittnessed this for many years.
A preacher man can preach Come ye out from among the world and be ye a separate people. The church house will be full of Amens. When that same preacher gets over in the ‘Thou shall nots’ and tells them Thou shall not steal, lie, covet the Amens are gone. The first point he made was the milk. The second was the strong meat.
Christians do not like being told they are wrong.
That’s why the itchy ears are everywhere. Knowing not that they are blindly being led astray because they are ‘unskilled’ in the word.
I have seen churches organize against the man of God to try to get enough votes so he would lose the pastor election. Bringing in people who haven’t attended church in years just to vote against him. All because he was preaching strong meat and they didn’t like it.
I have also seen churches elect a new pastor and all is great until he gets in the strong meat. That congregation will then sit down on him and the Word of God because the strong meat offered them. Well bless their hearts! Having no concerns for the lost in the mist of the congregation. Only for their own feelings. News Flash! It’s Not about me. It’s Not about you. It’s about advancing God’s Kingdom so that the lost might be saved. Different churches keep house differently. But that should be the primary goal. If it isn’t I would get away and find one that has that goal.
So there is your answer on discernment from God’s Holy Word.

    1. That reminded me. I had a pastor several years ago who had a unique saying about the strong meat of God’s word.
He would say ‘You are a Pig or a Possum’ ‘You either love it and can’t get enough or you will sull up on it’. ‘Your a pig or a Possum’
