It’s time to ponder the question…. “Is the nation going to the dogs?”
Well, there are good dogs, bad dogs, top dogs, under dogs, guard dogs, gun dogs, hunting dogs, hound dogs, toy dogs, guide dogs, sheep dogs, working dogs, house dogs, wiener dogs and then there is a saying that dogs are man’s best friend.
There are big dogs, little dogs, medium size dogs, giant and miniature size dogs. Dog breeds come in all shapes, sizes and our furry friends each have coats of different textures.

And some are really, really BIG!!

There are Dachshunds also called Wiener dogs and NOT to be confused with hot dogs, corn dogs, and dog gone it.

It is widely agreed that dogs are man’s best friend. That being said, we all need a Hero!

Most know the loyal mascot who helps Lin Wood at helping others to consider things for themselves and gently (points with his tail) to guide others to look and think for themselves. His name is “Hero” and not to be confused with “Warden Allie”. I recently got the names mixed up and so… now I know. It’s like one of those things compared to seeing your grandson every day and then calling your grandson by the other grandson’s name. “OOPS”

That being said, I thought it was time for a dog gone ‘fun’ story.
As you watch this video of tall breeds, keep in mind that it may come in handy later to get an idea of big dogs. When you watch it, think of the kind of “Big Dogs” that we look up too, and down at in this show we have been thrust into. The military term for it is “live theater”…. and they can do those with a real or manufactured event.
Now the question of the day is…. “If your ‘favorite or unfavorite’ person in the news was a dog… what type of dog would he or she be?”
Think President Trump, Lin Wood, Joey Avatar Biden, A.G. Garland, Zelensky, etc.
So first I want to share a real-life story about myself.
Years ago, I had family and friends telling me I needed to have a pet. A dog specifically. One day I said to myself. “Okay, if I were to get a dog what type of dog would it be?” Knowing how at that time there was a lot of truth to people growing to look like their pets…. I wanted to give this careful consideration.

I had always admired the Breed of Borzoi also known as the Russian Wolfhound. The art deco pictures and sculptures of that breed were some of my favorites and the dog was a fast runner and the breed was a good guard. So, of course my little intellect wheels were churning and turning and of course if I was going to look like my dog… I wanted it to be something like that majestic look of the Borzoi.

And so, I went looking for a breeder to buy my new Borzoi. I found one in Texas and there was a beautiful Champion who the breeder was selling. She was four years old and the breeder was now selling her to a good home. The drill to purchase was like I was adopting a child (or so I thought) and I had to put up a privacy fence and show proof of doing so and meet a list of other things in order to buy the beautiful Borzoi. And so… you may have guessed it… I did all of that and made arrangements to travel to Texas and get that beautiful animal. And I not only brought back this champion with her papers named Vitali, but I also brought back a friend for her named Lucinda. I was definitely going to have the perfect breed (in my mind’s eye which always did think big) who as we grew together, we would look alike as we aged. Smile. (Actually, I just loved the breed.)
So, as time went by… I made this video of my beautiful Vitali. Who definitely had a mind of her own and I became her pet. Smile. She was quite the “Alpha”. To both me and Lucinda.
Now let me tell you a few things about my Vitali. First of all, she was a mind reader. She always knew what I was thinking. For example, if I was going some place that she couldn’t go’ she never tried to beat me to the door she would just sit majestically on her fainting couch. (Yes, she had her own fainting couch it was cream colored and art deco style and she loved it and owned it.) But, on days that I was leaving and could let her go if I wanted to…. She instinctively knew it and would beat me to the door and bar it until I gave in and got the leash and escorted her to the car.

Walks with my beautiful Vitali in my mind was “I was going to look like an elegant lady walking my champion” but the walks were more like being dragged by my gal who wanted to run, run, run and then run some more. Especially if she saw a squirrel! There were times I fell, and times I was dragged a little and times I was dragged a lot. Times I had to let go of the leash and in a flash of lightning she was gone. It got so when she leaped from me…. I didn’t try to chase her; I would just get in the car and go searching (with a doggie treat for bait) … and sooner or later I would find where she ended up. Sometimes it would take hours and hours, but I always found her. Smile.
So… Vitali filled my life with a thousand stories and all good and memorable. And… of course, the looking like your dog idea, well, that didn’t age as well as I had imagined in my head. Smile. I was too busy chasing her and trying to sneak out of the house without her and when she got mad at me when I came home, she would sit next to me on the couch and snub me. Oh, she was such a drama queen about that. I would pet her and she would turn her head and drape it over the sofa away from me. I had to grovel a lot before she would turn her head and forgive me.
So… she could run through any obstacle and never touch one thing. I knocked down more things trying to catch her. As I said, she was my master, and I was her pet. (Did I mention that is when I learned to sleep on the edge of the bed in a straight line? Vitali only allowed me a small space; she sprawled out and took up the rest of my Queen size bed.) Trust me I tried to be the master, she just ignored me. Smile.

That being said… we all need a hero…. What would you be if you were a dog? What type of breed do you see yourself as? And if not you… what breed do you see Trump being? Lin Wood? Joe Biden? Name any of the people in our headlines and consider what dog they could be?
And if largest and most powerful doesn’t fit it… try the most unusual and odd…
Maybe the rarest dogs will get your imagination thoughts flowing faster?
We love our dogs and today, most consider theirs as a family member. So, as we fit our human top dogs (both white and black hats), stray dogs, and junk yard dogs with an image… remember to respect the breed. It’s not their fault they remind you of this one or that one. Smile.

Thank you Dianne, I Love our animals but mostly the dogs we’ve had this was a surprise when I opened up the report! Much needed!💗
I’ve been lucky to have so many dog and cat furry friends during my lifetime, along with chickens, horses, turkeys, pigs, pigeons, two racoons, a grey squirrel, and a couple peacocks. I’ve had five dogs, three from puppy stage, and the last two from the animal rescue.
My first dog named Dusty, was from my Great Uncle and Aunt’s couple named Omar & Rusty when my Dad was stationed in Japan along with them. He loved to play football with us and got along with almost everything, ‘cept a neighbor’s German Sheppard. He lived to be a ripe age of 12 years old, which was long for a Boxer.
Dot-Dot, I picked-up from a lady at work, she was part Chiwahua, Wippet and Australian Sheppard. Have no idea who was who in that affair. She was the size of a Chawahua, color of the Aussie, and smart as a Whippet. She wasn’t afraid of nuttin’, including them two Racoons named Charlene and Charlie.
Then came Murphy, a lonely little dude and runt of the litter of Boxer and Labrador, that had all been taken except him. Well, I took him that afternoon after dropping a friend from work off and having a beer and seeing him all alone by the woodstove. He was named Dog as I just couldn’t pin a a nme on his so many actions…until one night I had a few too many, and upon waking up noticed myself in a walk-by-mirror with a lot of goo like substance all through my beard and hair. Needless to say, I missed Dog’s effort in trying to awaken me to go do his duty. Then a punding on the door was the cue to his finally haviou good manng a new name. My friend Randy was at the door and upon seeing me, blurped-out…Henry! We found Dog’s real name….and after shouting WHAT!! He laughed out, M-U-R-P-H-Y..!! He got you good man!! He was a good ol’ boy who loved to go for rides in my pickup with racks and stand on the spare tire and look over the cab.
My last two were adopted. One, named Buddy, was supposedly a mix between Astralian Cattle Dog and Labrador Retrielver, and his initial name was Huckstable…I presume after Bill Cosby’s show on tv. Get in the truck Huck, just didn’t fit, so he became our Buddy. He was a charmer and got along with everyone and loved to play and be goofy outside. He went a bit early at 8 years and picked up a case of lymphoma.
While taking a break at our local animal shelter, I came across a couple Queensland Healers, who had no record to follow them and as I am always looking out for the underdog, noticed her shyness, and a little gimp in one of her hind feet, to which signaled either an accident or abuse, so without hesitation, and knowing her brother “Bosco”, would find a good home, I asked if she would get along with cats, since they were in our family of furries and all about around the neighborhood. She and the local cat sniffed noses and the signal was clear as a bell, that “Bessie” was good to go. She became “Our Little Lady”, soon after and lived to be a sound 15 years old. I still carry her with me on my cellphones screen.
So, all we have now is our soon to be 17 year old cat named Mac-aRoonie Doodles. He’s a shout of good times.
Below are Murphy, Buddy and Lady…I know pictures of the other two somewhere, but not without a good dig.

Henry, I Loved the stories of your pets! We have had turkeys, chickens, goats, cats, a squirrel and doggies! Our mans and women best friends were Trixie the Australian Blue Healer (Great for chasing in the chickens) died at age 10 because the neighbor dumped old deer guts by our house and Trixie started eating the meat before we knew it she died of pancreatitis. She was a great dog for our small boys! We then got Norabelle, a border collie mixed with black lab! Another great hearing dog and so loveable she gave hugs and when we had to put her down old age of 13 she had cancer sores, she actually looked me in the eyes came to me put her head on my lap as I was sitting, she said her goodbye and then walked to the door she knew it was time and waited for the vet. I cried so hard we had a hard time going through a fire together she was to be our boys dog but I ended up being her friend as not only her and I going through the fire but we both went through the normal boys growing up and leaving home, us. We would sit on the front step together hugging each other and I would talk to her of all the things we’ve been through and told her how glad I was she was with me. We rescued a Beagle pup named Belle, she was being hurt and renamed her Anna, I can’t explain it but all of a sudden we knew Beagles were are Dogs! Can’t say if they look like us or not but something pulls at my heart when I see a beagle! Anna lived to be 11 yrs and she come down with a fast growing lymphoma we couldn’t stop it and in 2 months she was gone and I ended up with depression so bad I couldn’t walk ect… my husband retired my mom told him take her and get her away for a while. He had to drag me crying to leave her in the ground where we buried her. I didn’t want any more pets but my husband kept working on me we were gone 3 months and just before we came home on our anniversary I found Rosie! They let us adopt her from out of state as rescues don’t like out of state people to take pets it is so if the pet doesn’t work out you can bring her back but Rosie which was not her mane but I am sorry her real name was chipena and I knew right away that she was ours and her name was Rosie it’s like she got mixed up at birth and she was suppose to be ours! Crazy Rosie was also a Beagle 9 yrs old when we adopted her! My kids were like what did you do she will die soon and your heart will be broken! I didn’t care Rosie needed us. She wouldn’t eat she gave up on life we were her 3 owners she would bury her food. We got her to eat though then found out she had a 5# cancer tumor we had the surgery and they gave us 6 months to a year but Rosie had other ideas she lived another 5 yrs! She was 14-1/2 yrs when we lost her but because we thought we were going to lose her soon we rescued another Beagle named Autumn. 3 sets of puppy’s and starved for the third time so they could have living puppies. I begged the breeder to let us have her as they were going to put her down. I won! Autumn was three yrs old when we got her and she helped Rosie in her last year as Rosie went blind. They because great sisters! We traveled, fished and played and I would Never trade those years for anything! Autumn is still with us she is 9 and I hope she will be here for many years to come! Would I get another Beagle You Bet! They are the gentlest dogs around great with kids all ages too!
A thought came to me the other day, maybe it means nothing. Not sure. I just wondered why Lin Wood has never mentioned Mark Taylor at all or his books. I’m sure by now he heard of him?? As I said, it was a thought that came to me.
Dianne this was a nice change of pace! I’ve always been a dog lover and have had many loyal companions over the years. Each one so special and unique. They are the absolute best companions and add so much to our lives. I haven’t figured out which breed would most resemble Trump or Lin yet. Still pondering that one. I just had to share a cute pic of our spoiled furkids! Miss Bella on the right – she rules the roost at our house and our lovebug Shiloh on the left. Our long time groomer always takes a photo of them each month on beauty day and this is one of my favorites. Needless to say these furkids are loved bunches but they also love us bunches in return. Thanks for this fun article.
I made a mistake and sent that screenshot first, but here is the 1st one.
Hi Dianne, this is not relevant to this post, but I loved this Parable, and thought you might find some good in it, as you always promote & encourage fellowship among your readers.
God Bless You Always!
Great article Dianne! We loved our maltipoo, Aggie, he brought so much joy to our home! He was the sweetest dog ever, a wonderful lap dog!!! He was a special friend, followed me all over the house, I even talked to him lol. He was also a bed hog, between him and my husband I only had a small sliver on the edge! We called him our “velcro” dog because he always had to be touching someone. We miss him a lot he passed Mar ‘23 at 16 yrs old. If I were to pick a dog that matched my personality it would be an akita- loyal, loving and protective! One of my favorite movies is Hachi a dog’s tale, it is sad but a great movie! We loved our little maltipoo, he was the BEST! 🐶❤️
I used to have four Maltese. I actually tried breeding them( not as easy as what people think it is which is why I ended up with four!). But I loved them all! Yes, each had a different personality! Chiffon was my protector, Pierre was my baby and loved to chase toys, Shiloh was just a lapdog who just wanted loved and Little guy was more like a guy’s dog ( my brother and him got along great) who also was very possessive of the food! Pierre just passed last November (day after Thanksgiving) at the age of 18 almost to be 19. He was my last living dog. Those were my children. I do miss them all!! Maybe someday my husband and I will have another dog. Our dogs do give us lots of great memories and love! Thanks for sharing your stories!
A long time ago, when I was single and designer dogs were not around, I contemplated getting a dog. I told my girlfriend that I wanted one that was smart, didn’t shed and fit in my lap. She told me that she had just the dog for me. A stuffed dog! That was too funny.
If I were to get a dog that resembled me in appearance and personality, it would probably be a mixed dog that you get at the pound. They tell you what breeds they think it is but after you get it, you wonder if there are some other breeds mixed in there.
I love that!!
I will admit today has been full of Satire 🤓
Your example of the furry friends and humans brought much delight. Lin told a joke the other day….the joke was laughable. Said we need this joy….its good and clean.
Laughing keeps us younger at heart. Agree. Somehow “Babylon Bee” showed up on my email address today. They reported in their in way of bydens great
Performance yesterday. Definitely another satire moment. Thanks for the medicine.
🙃😊❤️
We have to laugh – it builds the immune system and recharges our energy!
My Girl
When she is good, we call her Maddie Girl
When she is bad, we call her Maddie Jean
But she is the best anyone could have had and she picked me.
Only because I smelled like the food I cooked when selecting my forever friend.
She does get selective home cooked doggy food.
Maddie Girl was and has been a rescue ;in very distress state.
She deserves the best when you know what she has been through.
As long as I can, never second best for her, always the best.
And she deserves a crown 💕
Maddie Girl is a good sport letting you spoil her like that. I bet you gave her lots of treats for the snapshot! Love our bestest furry friends.
Lolololol
This is my story..
I needed to.hear this…
Oh, dianne, the Lord is so.good..
My dog is beautiful too..
The question is… how much of the bed does your doggie allow you to have? Smile.
This was a great change of pace ! Love dogs!! All kinds and breeds! Thank you for all the work you put into your emails! I love them but they are a challenge to my brain! God bless !!
It was time to stop and appreciate our other relationships. Our furry ones. Smile. Oh we all have stories, now don’t we. LOL.
